Biography
Niels Schiersing (born 1960) is a Danish national residing in Dubai. Mr Schiersing is a full-time commercial arbitrator and a part-time scholar. He is both civil law and common law qualified, giving him in-depth knowledge of the principles of both legal systems.

Mr Schiersing specialises in contract law, including the principles for the determination and calulation of damages, with a wide application with regard to industries and sectors and governing laws.

He has a particular focus on disputes pertaining to construction and infrastructure projects, M&A, JV, partnership and shareholders’ agreements, loan and other finance agreements, energy contracts, mining and sale of commodities and technical equipment, agency and distribution as well as insurance/reinsurance.

Over the past 5 years, Mr Schiersing has been appointed arbitrator in approx. 100 matters, including several/repeat appointments as emergency arbitrator. He is much in demand and has been appointed by all of the key arbitral institutions, including the ICC, LCIA, SIAC, SCC, HKIAC, AFSA, KCAB, DIFC-LCIA and DIAC.
