Adedoyin Rhodes Vivour SAN Carb is included in the new list of “Arbitrators of African Descent with a U.S Nexus” published in August 2020.  The list is an initiative of Nancy M. Thevenin FCIArb of Thevenin Arbitration & ADR and Dr. Katherine Simpson FCIArb of Simpson Dispute Resolution and compiled as a direct response to the perceived shortage of African American arbitrators. The List is meant to enable individuals and organisations – whether law firms, institutions or disputing parties to find and contact “just the right person”  for every role, whether arbitrator, speaker, expert, expert, counsel, mediator or other new hire and enables readers to find junior and senior members of the profession who can be hired and appointed.

Listed names were urged to promote diversity by circulating the list as widely as possible and to refer to the list when nominating Counsel, Arbitrator or Chair of Arbitral Panels in cases in which they are involved. Though the list is mainly focused on arbitrators located within the USA the List was widened to include other preeminent African professionals in the field even though located out of the USA. The list includes Adedoyin and other AfAA members including Mrs Funke Adekoya SAN Carb, Dr Emilia Onyema FCIArb, Mrs Olufunmilayo Roberts Carb and Tafadzwa Pasipanodya.

Adedoyin is Managing Partner of Doyin Rhodes-Vivour & Co, Solicitors, Advocates and Arbitrators.  She is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce [ICC] International Court of Arbitration, Paris ,ICC Africa Commission  and its Arbitration & ADR Commission, a Vice President of the London Court of International Arbitration [LCIA] African Users’ Council and Council Member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre’s Users’ Council .She is a  Past member of the Court of the Permanent Court of Arbitration [ PCA ]The Haque The Netherlands. She is a member of the International Law Association, International Committee on International Commercial Arbitration and pioneer Chair of the Nigerian Branch Committee of the International Law Association [ILA].

Adedoyin Rhodes-Vivour is a past Chairperson of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators [CIARB] (UK) Nigeria Branch, pioneer Founding President of the Maritime Arbitrators Association of Nigeria [MAAN] and pioneer Chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law [SBL] Arbitration and ADR Committee.  Adedoyin is a founding member of the African Arbitration Association (AfAA) and Member of its Board. She is an approved tutor of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, the internationally renowned home for arbitrators and regularly teaches arbitration.

She has acted as arbitrator and counsel in a vast number of cases and has extensive experience under institutional rules including the UNCITRAL, ICC and LCIA Rules and in ad-hoc proceedings. She is listed on the Panels of various arbitration Institutions including KIAC, SIAC, ICDR-AAA, LRCICA and AIAC .She is recognized as one of the world’s leading arbitrators. She is described by Who’s Who Legal Arbitration as “second to none for her skill and versatile thinking”. She is listed in editions of Guide to the World’s Leading Commercial Arbitration Experts [Expert Guide] as one of the preeminent practitioners in the field. Mrs. Rhodes-Vivour is a CEDR UK accredited mediator and has been pivotal in assisting various disputants resolve their commercial disputes outside the court system.

She is a CIARB Regional Pathway Leader for Africa. Mrs. Rhodes-Vivour is a member of ArbitralWomen and the International Committee of the Equal Representation in Arbitration [ERA] Pledge and co -chairs the African Sub-committee.

Mrs. Rhodes-Vivour, SAN has written various papers and publications and is the author of the book “Commercial Arbitration Law and Practice in Nigeria through the cases”.
